The courtyard garden has the makings of
a delightful space. The plain truth is that we simply haven't got round
to developing it yet, but it is surrounded by very old walls (requiring
a certain amount of repointing with lime mortar), and has some very nice
flag stone paving. Think of it in terms of a blank canvas...
There is also a wonderful old brick oven (we even have the original door),
and an outside tap, and the neighbour's very beautiful roses grow in abundance
over the wall in one corner (can't be guaranteed to continue, of course!).
This little garden could be made very pretty, and it is not difficult
to imagine it as the perfect little sun-trap. There is no space for football,
cricket, and anything too strenuous, but there's ample space for a few
friends, a barbecue and a decent bottle or two of plonk. |
